Kishtwar Congress celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

Kishtwar: Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated at Kishtwar by the District Congress Committee, Youth congress, Mahatma Gandhi Foundation and NSUI in a joint function held at office of Block Congress Committee Kishtwar. The function was held under the chairmanship of Pardeep Singh Parihar District Congress Committee wherein Sheikh Ghulam Haider Vice president PCC J&K was chief guest on the occasion. Speakers on the occasion speakers said "Gandhiji taught us to stand resolutely against fear, to understand the importance of truth and to work for the eradication of poverty, illiteracy and discrimination. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti let us take a pledge to follow the path of truth and non-violence and dedicate ourselves towards promoting peace, tolerance and harmony and work for the progress of the nation". Speakers said that freedom can be achieved through the path of non-violence.
On the occasion rich tribute was paid to Mahatma Gandhiji. Those who spoke on the occasion include Sheikh Ghulam Haider, Pardeep Singh Parihar, Pyare Lal Shan, Haji Ghulam Hassan Mir, Sandeep Singh, President Gandhi Foundation Azhar Kichloo, NSUI president Yasir Lone and student leader Vijay Kumar. The programme was conducted by senior youth Congress leader Sheikh Nasir Advocate who described Mahtma Gandhi a great philanthropist of truth and non-violence. He said that the Mahatma Gandhiji’s life was an eternal conquest to discover truth and his journey to that end was marked by experiments on himself.
Among others the programme was attended by large number of congress workers, youth leaders and NSUI leaders and workers of Mahtma gandhi Foundation.
