Kishtwar in darkness, NHPC in slumber

For the last more than a week whole district Kishtwar is in complete darkness due to collapse of one of the tower of 132KV line near PulDoda. Though NHPC responsible for the maintenance of 132KV line supplying electricity to Kishtwar is claiming that the repair work is going on but at the same time residents are blaming the authorities for executing work at very low pace. The residents are subject to huge inconvenience as every year the power supply is disturbed due to damage of one or the other tower. But no one at the helm of affairs is serious to solve the problem forever. Once again Kishtwar has faced the brunt of government apathy and non serious attitude of the concerned authorities towards serious issues of public importance. Scenario prevailing in this mountainous district has raised several eye brows over the functioning of NHPC. NHPC is earning crores from Kishtwar and in return it can not even maintain a supply line what to talk of working for the overall development of the region as promised. The way NHPC had acted and responded it has only strengthen the belief that government of India and its agencies are bothered only about the natural resources of the region and they have no care about the people living in this region. Today people ask a simple question, if they pay taxes why do not they get the minimum services they pay for. The government and the concerned authorities need to put their acts together and do the necessary explanation. amid chaos and confusion the people of this area are looking forward towards their elected representatives who are expected to take hardened stand for the benefit and convenience of the people who have given them the mandate
