132 KV tower collapse,

Kishtwar: Normal life in Kishtwar district and parts of Doda was thrown out of gear following incessant rains and subsequent complete power shut down due to collapse of 132 KV line.
People were already facing hardships due to the continuous rains for last two weeks, the power shut down in the mountaneous district added to their miseries.
The entire district was plunged into darkness when the power supply to this district was snapped due to collapse of 132 KV line near Pul Doda.
Though the NHPC was making efforts to repair the damaged tower, inclement weather condition was obstructing the restoration work. Pertinently, the maintenance of the power supply line to this district is entrusted to NHPC, and according to NHPC authorities the power supply was disrupted following the caving in of a tower near Pul- Doda.
“The restoration work was immediately started and efforts are being made to restore the supply as soon as possible”, NPHC authorities told Bold Voice. They however said the restoration work of supply to Kishtwar will take at least five days more as till date only basement has been constructed and after a couple of days the tower will be erected. Here in the district the people are suffering due to no electricity. Most of shops dealing with electronic goods and mobile recharge are closed. Besides traders and shopkeepers the students are the worst sufferers who are appearing in different examinations now a days. Long ques of people are being seen in front of Photostat and other shop for getting their cell phone battery charged on gensets and for that they pay Rs. 20/- per hour
